LAKE WALES – After weeks of hard work in the B Street Summer Enrichment Program, students and teachers will be traveling to Orlando for some fun and games – science-style.
Tuesday (July 10) is the deadline for parents to return signed and notarized permission forms for the Orlando Science Center field trip on Thursday, July 19. Forms were sent home with students, but additional forms are available from teachers in the B Street Program, or at the Lake Wales Charter Schools central office.
The end-of-session field trip is provided free, at no cost to students or families. Transportation, admission to the Science Center, and lunch are all provided as part of a grant for the B Street Summer Enrichment Program.
“This field trip is both educational and entertaining,” said summer program director Chandra Johnson. “The students will be able to experience some unusual hands-on exhibits, and it is a fun way to reward them for their hard work this summer.”
The B Street Summer Enrichment Program (B-Street Newsletter July 2012) is a partnership between the Lake Wales Charter Schools, which coordinates the morning instructional program, and the B Street Center, which provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon recreation. This summer, more than 50 elementary students enrolled in the instructional program, receiving help with reading, math, testing strategies, corrective reading instruction and computer skills.
