Basketball players, coach honored

LAKE WALES – The Florida Athletic Coaching Association (FACA) has awarded three top Region 13 basketball recognitions to Lake Wales High School:

  • Zada Williams is the Region 13 5A Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year
  • Russel Wilson is the Region 13 5A Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year
  • Coach Billy D. Washington is the Region 13 5A Coach of the year

The boys’ team (26-4) is currently No. 1 in the state, and will play Thursday (March 1) in the state Class 5A semifinals at the Lakeland Center.
