LAKE WALES – Bok Academy’s fourth annual outdoor Bok at the Moon event is 5-8:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 2).
This year, the festivities will include a bonfire, laser tag, cornhole competition, face painting, jousting bounce house, tug of war, photo booth, zipline, hamster balls, game trailer with Wii, Xbox and Playstation, and a giant movie screen.
Sweets, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Bok at the Moon is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring folding chairs or picnic blankets.
The grade level with the highest attendance and participation will be rewarded by Principal Damien Moses. Students and families must check in at the back porch. Students must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
At 5:30 p.m., parents will have a chance to attend an information session on FCAT changes. This program will be offered inside the Bok Café. Door prizes will be given to parents who attend the program.
During Bok at the Moon, the school also is conducting a Community Service Book Drive. Families may drop off any “gently used” book with a reading level appropriate for a pre-K to 8th grade student.




LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
LAKE WALES – Age and experience triumphed over youth and energy when Janie Howard Wilson staff faced fifth graders in the elementary school’s annual spring softball game last week. The adults won the game 22-8.
