Bok hosts Autism Parent Night program

LAKE WALES – Bok Academy will host a special Autism Parent Night program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7 for parents, family members and others who have loved ones impacted by autism.

Representatives from CARD, the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, will provide the program, which is free and open to the public. Bok Academy is located at 13901 Hwy. 27 South, Lake Wales, directly across from Warner University.

 

Autism is a developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. The result of a neurological disorder that affects brain function, autism and associated behaviors occur in about 1 in 88 individuals. Autism is four times more prevalent in boys than girls, and knows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries, according to the Autism Society of America.
