May 20th, 2010

LAKE WALES – Bok Academy students will celebrate their arts program Saturday (May 22) at one of the most inspirational locations in Central Florida – Bok Tower Gardens.

“This day will be a celebration of our life today, and Edward W. Bok’s legacy of learning,” said Principal Donna Dunson. “We want to celebrate the creativity and original creations of our student artists at Bok Academy, and the best place to do that is Bok Tower Gardens.”

Student artwork will be exhibited in the Visitor Center Exhibit Hall beginning Saturday through June 2.

Several Bok Academy student groups also will perform on Saturday. The Bok Steel Drums will play on the Café Terrace at 1:30 p.m. The Symphonic Band and the String Orchestra will perform on the East Glade at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively.

Following the 3 p.m. Carillon Concert, the Bok Chorus will sing at the Back Terrace Live Oak area at 3:30 p.m. The Beginning Band will perform at 4 p.m. on the East Glade.

“We are so pleased to partner with Bok Tower Gardens on this special day,” said Dunson. “It is a great opportunity for our students and families to celebrate the arts in the beautiful setting created by the man for whom our school is named.”
