Bok students work with local County Judge

May 26th, 2010

LAKE WALES – Some Bok Academy students got an inside look at the judicial system recently when County Judge Robert Williams visited the campus to lead two “Justice Teaching Sessions.”

History teacher Jeri Hammond challenged eighth grade students to submit brief papers on why they would be interested in learning about the judicial system. Students who demonstrated the most interest were selected to participate in the program with Judge Williams.

“During the sessions, students learned about the educational journey that Judge Williams personally took,” said Guidance Counselor Krista Thompson. “He also explained how our judicial system works.”

Students asked questions about the court system, and found out more about careers as lawyers or judges.

“Judge Williams encouraged students to be smart about choices they make as they enter high school, and to continue their education past high school reaching for their career goals. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students,” said Thompson.
