Calendar approved for 2013-2014 school year

Mar 19th, 2013

LAKE WALES – Students will begin school on Monday, Aug. 19, according to the new school year calendar approved by the Lake Wales Charter Schools’ Board of Trustees on Monday (March 18).

The Calendar for the 2013-2014 school year is based on a calendar adopted in February by the Polk County School Board.

The LWCS calendar includes five early-release days. On those days, students will be dismissed two hours early so staff members can participate in professional development training.

Three “storm make-up days” are built into the calendar during the Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays. Those days would be used if the State of Florida required the Lake Wales Charter Schools system to make up days missed because of hurricanes or other events.
