LAKE WALES – Polk Avenue Elementary families gathered last week (Feb. 6) for a fun family night focused on FCAT testing resources and strategies for students.
After an overview from teachers about what to expect on the FCAT Writes test at the end of February, children and adults played “Who Wants to be a Writer?” based on the popular game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”

Later, audience members played a game of “Jeopardy!” about test information and strategies. Parents and students worked together (PHOTO #2 and PHOTO #3) to learn information about the FCAT tests.






LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Special Olympic track and field relay team qualified and participated in the State Summer Games May 17-18 at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
LAKE WALES – Age and experience triumphed over youth and energy when Janie Howard Wilson staff faced fifth graders in the elementary school’s annual spring softball game last week. The adults won the game 22-8.
