First graders explore Dinosaur World

Oct 9th, 2012

LAKE WALES – Hillcrest Elementary first graders took a trip back in time, and walked with ancient creatures at Dinosaur World.

Intrepid explorers Sophia Rodriguez (inside) and Johanna Hall (standing) even braved a dinosaur’s sharp teeth to pose for a photo during the field trip with their teacher Daisy Porter. Later (PHOTO #2), during a walk through the “jungle” Johanna pretends to be frightened but classmate Sophia is all smiles.

Students dug for fossils, and also uncovered a life-size dinosaur skeleton in the “bone yard.” During the trip, they practiced sounding out various dinosaur names like Dilophosarus and Chasmosaurus.
