LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High football player Brandon Velez signed a letter of intent to play football for Edward Waters College in Jacksonville. The ceremony took place Wednesday (May 23) at the school.
The EWC Tigers compete in the NAIA Division II’s Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

Special Olympians compete at State Games
LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Special Olympic track and field relay team qualified and participated in the State Summer Games May 17-18 at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Staff triumphs in annual softball game
LAKE WALES – Age and experience triumphed over youth and energy when Janie Howard Wilson staff faced fifth graders in the elementary school’s annual spring softball game last week. The adults won the game 22-8.
