Gnats ready for chess tournaments

Oct 4th, 2012

BABSON PARK – At least one group of students at Dale R. Fair Babson Park Elementary hope to be ready with some “smart moves” when the Gnat Chess Club begins competing in tournament play.

Chess coach Sandra Mercer is pictured with some of the students who have joined the after-school Gnat Chess Club, which meets 2:30-3:30 p.m. every Wednesday. The club includes students in grades K-5, who will compete in tournaments against other schools in the Ridge Chess League.

Volunteers, especially with an interest in chess, are welcome! Please contact the school at 863-678-4664 or email sandra.mercer@lwcharterschools.com for more information.
