LAKE WALES – More than 60 adults and students turned out Thursday evening to learn more about archery and sign up for the Hillcrest Archery Club.

PHOTO #2: Coach Nancy Leatherland helps students measure and tie their practice “string bows” during the meeting. Leatherland is a certified National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) instructor.

Hillcrest students in grades 3-5 just finished eight weeks of archery in physical education classes.  In addition to shooting, students learned about safety, rules and whistle commands. Students who participate in the after-school Archery Club will compete against other schools in the NASP program, and attend state and world tournaments.
