Hillcrest hosts summer Kindergarten Camp

LAKE WALES – Hillcrest Elementary will host a tuition-free summer Camp READY! “kindergarten camp” provided by Learning Resource Center of Polk County.

Camp READY! is June 21 – July 16. The program is scheduled for 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday – Friday on the Hillcrest Elementary campus. Parents must provide transportation to and from the school.

Camp READY! is a program for students who will be entering or repeating kindergarten. The program is designed to teach foundational skills needed for a successful year in kindergarten. Although the camp is tuition-free, there is a $20 registration fee, which includes a t-shirt.

To register or ask questions, call Learning Resource Center at 863-688-9477. Application forms are available at Hillcrest Elementary or the Lake Wales Charter Schools central office.

Learning Resource Center of Polk County, Inc. is a non-profit United Way agency dedicated to helping students maximize their learning potential. In addition to the Camp READY! at Hillcrest, LRC also is planning similar kindergarten camps in Fort Meade and Lakeland.

    Musicians close year on high note

    Janie Howard Wilson Elementary chorus and world drummers ended their musical year on a “high note” Tuesday (May 15) with an exciting performance of oldies, Top 40s, inspirational songs and African music for fellow students, faculty and parents.
