LAKE WALES – Kindergarten parents and children gathered for a fun Family Night at Recreation Station recently to celebrate the end of the school year.
The event was sponsored by the Kindergarten Support Program at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary School, which held regular Family Night activities throughout the school year.
“One family shared that they looked forward to our Family Nights every month, and how much they benefited from them,” said Nichole Perrett, K-Support teacher.
Kindergarten student Toria Deloach drew the loudest cheers by bowling the highest scoring game, but everyone enjoyed cheering on all the students.
“After the bowling, we all ate pizza together,” said Perrett. “Every family received several books to take home for summer reading.”
All four elementary schools in the Lake Wales Charter Schools system have a privately funded Kindergarten Support Program that provides additional staff and intensive, targeted instruction for students. This summer, LWCS representatives will make a presentation on the K Support Program at the 2010 National Charter Schools Conference in Chicago.
