LAKE WALES – Janie Howard Wilson Elementary teachers (l-r) Molly Garrett, Sharon Kochanowski and Gwendolyn Hayes are science rock stars after earning their certifications to borrow moon rocks and meteorite specimens from NASA.

For two weeks, the materials were on loan at the school. Science teacher Garrett incorporated the specimens into science lab lessons, and second grade teachers Kochanowski and Hayes developed space-science lessons for their classrooms.

All three teachers enrolled in a class given by NASA at Warner University, which provided certification and allowed them to borrow the specimens.
