JHWilson earns Progress Energy grant

Dec 13th, 2012

LAKE WALES – Janie Howard Wilson Elementary will use a $3,000 grant from Progress Energy to help fourth and fifth graders learn more about light and sound.

Progress Energy’s Jerry Miller (left) presented the grant to science resource teacher Molly Garrett and Principal Barbara Jones during a ceremony last month.

Garrett applied for the grant so that she can take 40 students to a Disney Youth Education class called “Energy and Waves Physics 101 Lab.” During the three-hour program, students will go behind the scenes at the Magic Kingdom to learn how Disney uses energy, in the form of light and sound, to create world-class attractions.
