K Week families excited to start school

Aug 1st, 2012

LAKE WALES – Janie Howard Wilson Elementary hosted its annual K Week program this week (July 30-Aug. 2) to introduce new students – and parents – to important skills for the first days and weeks of school.

On Tuesday (July 31), Superintendent Jesse Jackson (pictured standing) visited the morning session and spoke to parents about the role they play in school success.

As part of K Week, parents and students attend the program together, and learn about the campus, the cafeteria and important school skills, like lining up, making friends and playing games.

Annual Kindergarten Week programs take place at all four elementary schools in the Lake Wales Charter Schools system as part of the privately funded Kindergarten Support Program. The Kindergarten Support Program provides extra academic support in the four schools.
