Kindergarten busy on Monday

LAKE WALES – There’s always something happening in the Kindergarten Wing at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary, and Monday was no exception.

, 6, (left) shows off the poem and handprint she made as part of Grandparents Day activities in her classroom.  (President Jimmy Carter proclaimed the first National Grandparents Day in 1978. Each year the day is recognized on the first Sunday after Labor Day. This year, it was Sept. 9.)

Kindergarten student Denari Gatlin (below) wears a birthday crown provided by the school and a special blue ribbon provided by his mother because today – September 10 – is his sixth birthday.
