LAKE WALES – Kindergarten students (l-r) Jaslyn Robinson, Anelys Salaberry, Liana Briand, Miguel Diaz and Carter Walker get into character as “Doc” for the celebration of the Letter D at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary recently.
“Doc” is a character in the Superkids Reading Program. To mark the conclusion of their study of the letter D, students spent a day filled with Doc’s favorite activities: fixing, building and inventing things. Students like Zyahna Henry (pictured building with marshmallows and sticks) made tool belts and wore construction hats.
LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Special Olympic track and field relay team qualified and participated in the State Summer Games May 17-18 at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
LAKE WALES – Age and experience triumphed over youth and energy when Janie Howard Wilson staff faced fifth graders in the elementary school’s annual spring softball game last week. The adults won the game 22-8.
