LAKE WALES – Love was in the air at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary’s family night program for February (Feb. 8) when students and families celebrated “the love of writing.”
About 125 students and their parents attended the evening of Valentine-themed writing activities.
“Love was definitely in the air!” said Amy Harris, the school’s writing resource teacher.
Students made Valentine cards, friendship bracelets, wrote with chocolate, used “red hot” adjectives, created friendly letters to Principal Beverly Lynne, used conversation hearts to write in a math activity, and penned poetry on friendship.
“The students enjoyed learning and practicing writing with their family and friends,” said Harris. “It was a lovely night of writing.”
The evening ended with Dean Martin’s song “That’s Amore” playing in the cafeteria, while everyone enjoyed a romantic dinner of spaghetti!
