LWHS cadet earns $120,000 scholarship

LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High School JROTC Cadet Lt. Col. Elizabeth MacDonald is Polk’s “Best Cadet of the Year” and has a $120,000 ROTC scholarship to Florida Southern College to prove it!

“She was selected over several top cadets from all over Polk County. She represented Lake Wales High School JROTC because of her leadership, dedication and can-do attitude.  She is an excellent student, and our highest ranking cadet this year,” said Sgt. Henry Porter, assistant JROTC instructor.

McDonald also was awarded $24,000 from Florida Southern College.

“Elizabeth is an outstanding cadet.  She leads from the front, and she is very involved in the community.  Her grades are impeccable and we will surely miss her,” said Capt. Charles Simpson, senior Army instructor.
