LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High will host an IB Program informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the school auditorium.
Applications will be available for students who will be in grades 9-11 next year. Incoming 11th grade students may be eligible for the IB Diploma program. Incoming students in grades 9-10 may be eligible for the Baccalaureate Prep program.
Because Lake Wales High is a charter school, students do not necessarily have to live in Lake Wales to attend the school. Lake Wales High will accept eligible out-of-zone students – including IB students – as long as space is available.
This fall, LWHS officially began offering IB Diploma classes for about 37 students in 11th grade. Currently, about 80 ninth graders and 65 sophomores are taking Baccalaureate Prep classes. The school hopes to recruit about 100 incoming ninth graders for 2013-2014 as the IB program continues to grow at Lake Wales High.
The International Baccalaureate Organization is a non-profit educational foundation that offers high quality programs to a worldwide community of schools. Currently, more than 900,000 students are enrolled in IB programs in more than 140 countries.
