LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High will host an IB Program informational meeting from 6:30-8:15 p.m. Thursday (April 26) in the school auditorium.

Applications will be available for students who will be in grades 9-11 next year.  Students in 11th grade may be eligible for the IB Diploma program; students in grades 9-10 may be eligible for the Baccalaureate Prep program.

LWHS was officially notified April 11 that the school can begin offering IB Diploma classes for grades 11-12 next year. Currently, about 65 ninth graders and 30 sophomores are taking Baccalaureate Prep classes at Lake Wales High.

FILE PHOTO: On April 11, 10th graders enrolled in the Baccalaureate Prep program at Lake Wales High gave a big “thumbs up” to news that they will have an official IB program for grades 11-12, starting in 2012-2013. (The students were out of uniform when this photo was taken, because it was “water awareness day” and they donated $1 for the privilege of wearing blue.)
