LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High School JV football player Sherrod Sanchious (center) has been recognized by the Florida High School Athletic Association for outstanding sportsmanship.
Referees contacted FHSAA to nominate Sanchious for the recognition because of his conduct and behavior during a JV football game. He is pictured with LWCS Trustee Chair David Ullman (left) and Superintendent Jesse Jackson (right) during a meeting Monday (Nov. 15).

Third grader throws out first pitch
LAKELAND – The crowd went wild Tuesday (May 21) when third grader Carlos Salgado (pictured) threw out the first pitch at the Lakeland Flying Tigers baseball game against the Fort Myers Miracles.

Kindergarten gets special gift
LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
