Sep 28th, 2010

LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High will administer the PSAT test to the entire 10th grade class in October, and interested 11th and 12th grade students may sign up for a small registration fee.

Students will take the PSAT during the day Wednesday, Oct. 13 on the LWHS campus.

The test is free for all 10th graders, who already are registered for the test. Any student in the 11th or 12th grade can register for $13; those students should sign up with Peggy Newsome at the high school.

Students who score high enough on the PSAT may earn designation as a National Merit Scholar and college scholarships.

PSAT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation. It is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT college admissions test. The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills.
