LAKE WALES – Mayor Eugene L. Fultz made a surprise visit to Janie Howard Wilson Elementary earlier this month (Oct. 11) to meet young citizens who had written letters to him.
In September, during Action for Hunger Month, fourth graders wrote letters to the Mayor. They wrote about some of their own service and fundraising activities to combat hunger. They also expressed concern for people who might be hungry in Lake Wales.
Mayor Fultz surprised the fourth graders with $100, which they can donate to fight hunger.
“The fourth graders were so happy to have him help with their mission,” said teacher Amy Harris. “The students will never forget this day.”
