LAKE WALES – Janie Howard Wilson Elementary musicians (l-r) Roy Robinson, Lora Young, Melkayla Irvis and Dashiel Blum performed May 8 during Polk County’s Elementary Music Showcase.
Roy and Lora both performed with the Fifth Grade Orff Ensemble. Melkayla sang with the Fifth Grade Girls Choir, and Dashiel sang with the Fourth Grade Boys Choir.

Kindergarten gets special gift
LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.

Staff triumphs in annual softball game
LAKE WALES – Age and experience triumphed over youth and energy when Janie Howard Wilson staff faced fifth graders in the elementary school’s annual spring softball game last week. The adults won the game 22-8.
