New Principal named at Hillcrest Elementary

LAKE WALES – Superintendent Jesse L. Jackson and the Principal Search Committee, which includes representatives from the Hillcrest Elementary faculty, staff, and the community, are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Barrow as the new Principal of Hillcrest Elementary School.

After a national and on-line search to fill the position, Barrow has been selected and will begin as Principal at Hillcrest Elementary on December 18, 2012.

“I am so delighted to appoint Jennifer as the new principal at Hillcrest Elementary,” Jackson said.  “This is the result of a highly participatory effort and I cannot imagine a better outcome for Hillcrest Elementary.  I am very much looking forward to having Mrs. Barrow on board as the Principal.”

She grew up in Lake Wales and graduated from Lake Wales High School.  Barrow received her B.A. in Education from Warner University and her M.A. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

She most recently served as Interim Principal for Hillcrest Elementary and spent years in the Lake Wales/Polk County educational system.  Barrow has more than 20 years of experience in classroom/resource teaching, Title One Instructional Support, School Improvement Plan, Learning Focused Strategies Coach, Facilitator of Beginning Teacher Program, LWCS Professional Development Team, LEA Coordinator, Assistant Principal on Special Assignment, Assistant Principal and Interim Principal.

Barrow is an educator with experience in curriculum, diversity, program development, and community stakeholder partnerships.

“I am very honored and pleased to have the opportunity to work with the students and staff of Hillcrest Elementary,” Barrow said.  “Over the last few years I continue to be impressed with the dedicated faculty, supportive community, and great school spirit at Hillcrest Elementary.  I look forward to a continued positive and productive experience on behalf of the students and to leading the continued development of an exceptional school.”
