LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High School’s Orchestra will host a free Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 4) in the school auditorium. The concert will feature musical groups from other Lake Wales schools.
Beginning Strings and School of Rock groups, under the direction of teacher Heather Gullstrand, will include students from Polk Avenue Elementary, Janie Howard Wilson Elementary, Babson Park Elementary and Bok Academy.
Teacher Meg Smith’s Intermediate/Advanced Strings from Bok Academy, and various strings groups from the high school will also perform. Smith also directs the LWHS Orchestra.
“We are asking for non-perishable food items to donate to the Care Center, or people may donate cell phones and chargers that are no longer being used to send to soldiers overseas,” said Smith.




LAKELAND – The crowd went wild Tuesday (May 21) when third grader Carlos Salgado (pictured) threw out the first pitch at the Lakeland Flying Tigers baseball game against the Fort Myers Miracles.
LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Special Olympic track and field relay team qualified and participated in the State Summer Games May 17-18 at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
