LAKE WALES — All Lake Wales Charter Schools offices and schools will be closed Monday (Aug. 27) in anticipation of threatening weather from Hurricane Isaac.
When Polk County Public Schools (in cooperation with Emergency Management officials) announced the decision to close public schools, the LWCS system implemented its plan to mirror the Polk County decision. The threat of high winds and heavy rains endangers students and staff in school buses, portable classrooms, and other facilities, and creates an unsafe situation in the community for families and employees.
The LWCS system will follow the Polk County Public Schools’ decision regarding school on Tuesday. Families should stay tuned to local media, school websites and Facebook for more information.
