Shafer to coach North-South All-Star game

LAKE WALES – Long-time Lake Wales High School head football Coach Rod Shafer has been named the “South” head coach for next December’s 58th Annual North-South All-Star Football Classic.

The honor was announced by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, which oversees the Annual North-South All-Star Football Classic. The 2012 game will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Fireman’s Field in Sebring.

The state is divided into 12 regions, with six designated “south” and six designated “north.” The game showcases the top 72 football players in the Florida.

As South head coach, Shafer will select a staff of eight assistant coaches from the south regions.

    Musicians close year on high note

    Janie Howard Wilson Elementary chorus and world drummers ended their musical year on a “high note” Tuesday (May 15) with an exciting performance of oldies, Top 40s, inspirational songs and African music for fellow students, faculty and parents.
