LAKE WALES – The fall sports season is right around the corner, and Lake Wales High has scheduled team tryouts and free sports physicals for local athletes.
Free physicals will be offered beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 30. All athletes must have a current annual physical to participate in any fall or spring sport. Students who want to take advantage of the free physicals should meet in the LWHS auditorium.
Tryouts for Varsity and Junior Varsity Football begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6. All interested players should meet on the LWHS practice field dressed and ready to play.
Boys’ Golf tryouts begin at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. Interested players should meet at Oakwood Golf Club (3301 Old Wailes Road, Lake Wales) appropriately dressed and ready to play.
Girls’ Volleyball tryouts also begin on Monday, Aug. 6. Time will be announced later, but prospective players can check with the LWHS office for more information.
LAKE WALES – LAKE WALES – Polk Avenue hosted its first-ever Hispanic Celebration earlier this month (May 3) with food, fashion and fun from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Guatemala.
LAKE WALES – Janie Howard Wilson Elementary musical and visual arts students shared their talents Tuesday (May 14) in a year-end “Soaring in the Arts” performance and exhibition for their school community. Music teacher Micky Caban and art teacher Tiffany Weaver coordinated the event.
LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Zach Gill signed a baseball scholarship with Warner University during a Thursday morning (May 16) ceremony at the high school.
