LAKE WALES – Forgive the fourth graders at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary for acting a little batty this week, but students are fascinated with the winged creatures.
Fourth graders are working on a writing assignment about bats, so they needed an expert to help them understand their subject. Francine Prager (pictured) from the Bat Conservatory in Largo visited students on Tuesday (Oct. 22). She helped the fourth graders learn more about bats, and gave students a chance to see an evening bat and a long-tailed bat. Students also heard bats communicating through echolocation.
