LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High’s Hispanic Club and World Language Department provided special treats for school staff members recently (Sept. 20) as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
Students made colorful tissue paper flowers (pictured, in staff mailboxes) for every staff member. They also served traditional snacks and treats, including flavored juices, pimento spread sandwiches, fruit salad and papaya jelly.
Hispanic Heritage Month also was an opportunity for students enrolled in Spanish 2 classes to learn more about the history and culture of various countries. Every student chose a country whose primary or official language is Spanish, and researched that country. Shown with the three-dimensional national flags they created as part of their research projects are Spanish 2 students (l-r) Joshua Cobb, Taylor McDonald, Amoya Hall, Jessica Welch and Shaka McGriff.
