LAKELAND – Bok Academy students David Williams, Kiley Martinez and teacher Allison Hunter were surprised Monday (March 4) when they met Florida Gov. Rick Scott working at the Detroit Tigers spring training game in Lakeland.
The Bok students were selected as this year’s Lilly, O’Toole & Brown’s Perseverance of Academic Achievement Award winners. The award recognizes students who persevere despite obstacles in pursuit of achievement. Part of the award is being treated to a Detroit Tigers spring training game in Lakeland.




LAKELAND – The crowd went wild Tuesday (May 21) when third grader Carlos Salgado (pictured) threw out the first pitch at the Lakeland Flying Tigers baseball game against the Fort Myers Miracles.

LAKE WALES –– Hillcrest Elementary kindergarten students are celebrating the end of school by reading their own copies of “Change The World Before Bedtime” by Mark Kimball Moulton, Josh Chalmers and Karen Good.
